About Ballinavortha House was built originally around 1780. When we bought it in 1999, it had fallen into disrepair as it had not been lived in for about 15 years. We have sympathetically restored it ourselves, in keeping with its Georgian heritage, but including all the modern conveniences. Ballinavortha House sits on five acres of land which we are developing into a wildlife garden with an acre devoted to chemical free, organic produce. We also have our own free range organically fed hens. We reuse, recycle and are aiming at being energy efficient. We are situated on the Wicklow/Carlow/Wexford border at the final stage of the Wicklow Way (www.wicklowway.com) and approximately 4.5 kilometres from the village of Clonegal. We are approximately 10 kilometres from both Shillelagh, Co Wicklow and Tullow, Co Carlow. Ballinavortha House is a family run B&B. We are open all year round.
